The Tib Cup Five-O brackets have been locked.
There are 7 brackets of varying sizes. There will be 2 teams of 12 players plus 2 alternates for a total of 26 players (66.7%) qualifying for Tib Cup Team Match Play weekend on Oct 2,3,4.
At the end of qualifying period (last scheduled day is Sunday Sept 20), the players with a “Q” to the right of their Total Avg qualify. The player with a “W” to the right of their Total Avg will qualify as a wildcard. The 2 players with “A” will be the alternates.
The wildcard and alternates could come from any bracket. Those will be the players with the smallest difference from the last qualifier in their bracket compared to all the other non-qualifiers differences. It also possible to have more than 1 wildcard and/or alternate to come from the same bracket. It just depends upon the math.
Bracket Lock methodology used the average of 3 handicap components.
2019 TibCup final Hdcp, Average Hdcp of your rounds played in 2020 TibCup and your current Hdcp Index. Those 3 averaged together were sorted with Bracket lines drawn keeping a fair range of peer Hdcps per Bracket. This was done with no names displayed, just numbers.
As of 7/29/20 there are 20 Rounds remaining to improve your average. 9 Gross and 11 Net.
A note of caution AND optimism for players:
Players with the least rounds played and in general have high averages are the players positioned to make the biggest moves. Those players will eventually be knocking out high scores and moving their average quickly. So if you are toward the bottom and have not played more than say 8 to 15 rounds, you can quickly move.
In addition, unforeseen circumstances may create a bracket adjustment if needed.
The field is hereby advised that there may be an allowance to rounds available for
1 or more players suffering from a verifiable medical condition.
Any process will be adjusted so as to be fair and consistent with the average rounds being played by the individual brackets,
with a minimum of 1 extra allowed. More details will be provided as necessary and after being evaluated by the
TibCup 5-0 Chairman, Handicap Chairman, and Director of Golf.
Play hard, putt everything out because 1 stroke may make a difference of who gets in and who does not.
